In wake of the Naya Pakistan Housing Program (NHP) and with the aim of helping the Government achieve its goal of 5 million houses, the Housing Research Centre (HRC) at University of Management & Technology (UMT) Lahore feels highly privileged being officially on board.
Towards the fulfilment of the NHP’s goal, HRC, UMT Lahore is excited to announce the holding of the 1st International Symposium and Expo on Ultra Low Cost Housing, a two day international event, to be held in April 2019. This Symposium is aimed at highlighting Pakistan’s housing agenda in totality. At the centre of today’s development, it has become a dire need to find ways for ameliorating the deplorable poor housing situation in country. Thus, to achieve the goal, this Symposium is intended to be a way forward for seeking known innovative global practices to enhance the capacity of our centres for retaining sustainable and pragmatic model for housing.
The intended two day 1st International Symposium and Expo on Ultra Low Cost Housing shall serve as a platform for national and international housing experts, building material suppliers, professionals, policy makers, practitioners and academics to highlight ideas and strategies for improving the state of housing sector in Pakistan. It will not only aim at reviewing the present housing situation across the country but shall focus on assessing ways through which different housing frameworks and models can be built in context of Pakistan. Along with the national speakers, the Symposium intends to invite the international experts, particularly from the South Asian Region for a collaborative talk on proposing ways for achieving the 5 million houses goal in Pakistan.
This two day event shall also comprise of an expo which will be based on an exhibition of various stalls pertinent to materials used in housing works and projects being carried up within different academic institutions, public-private sectors, developers and different consultancies. Moreover, to explore the full potential of this symposium, a student design and model making competition is also intended to be displayed within the expo for acknowledging and learning from the young minds.
Hence, the 1st International Symposium and Expo on Ultra Low Cost Housing, shall serve as a paradigm to address the looming housing crises in the country.
