Overview Road Map Course Outline
Why Degree in Architecture?
Study of Architecture is considered a bridge between engineering sciences and arts. In the current ages, it has become imperative for a developing country like Pakistan to equip architects with right knowledge and tools to service this highly competitive building industry.
Overview/ Curriculum and courses of reading
The program of Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) at UMT comprising of Five Years (Ten Semesters) is program of intensive studies and practical work leading to a professional degree in Architecture was established in 2012.
The curriculum and structure of the program is comparable to any similar international degree with regard to Pakistan’s HEC /PCATP specified guidelines. To this end, preparation of the curriculum, selection of faculty, planning of infrastructure facilities such as dedicated building, classrooms, design studios and other resources are designed to fulfill the PCATP (Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners)’s requirements. The program of study is highly demanding and only those students are recommended to apply who are willing to work long hours. Furthermore, significant component of studies involve fieldwork where students are required to visit construction sites, conduct field surveys, and join out of station study tours.
B. Arch degree requirements also include 12 weeks of internship in a professional establishment. The working environment within Department is pleasant. The students spend a significant part of their working in Design Studios which ensures high degree of interaction among students and academic staff. Our B. Arch graduates are eligible for license from PCATP and practice as registered professional architects.
