The following Master’s Degrees at the School of Architecture and Planning are offered with pre-requisite bachelor degrees mentioned below which must be duly accredited by The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan following the requirements set by the HEC..

Eligibility / Pre-requisite Qualification:

  1. Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) accredited by PCATP
  2. Bachelor of Science in City and Regional Planning (B.Sc. CRP) accredited by PCATP
  3. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (B.Sc. Civil Engineering) accredited by PEC
  4. Bachelor of Building and Architectural Engineering accredited by PEC
  5. Bachelor of Environmental Engineering accredited by PEC
  6. Bachelor of Product and Industrial Design
  7. Bachelor of Islamic Architecture

DEGREE OPTIONS:

  1. Master of Architecture (M.ARCH)
  2. Master of Architecture with specialization in Conservation
  3. Master of Architecture with specialization in Urban Design

COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER DEGREES

  1. All Master and MS degrees offered at the School are with Thesis and every student will study at least nine subjects of three semester credit hours each and a Thesis of six semester credit hours.
  2. Out of required nine courses six are core courses and other three are elective courses as given in the courses of reading.
  3. A total of 33 credit hours are required to be successfully completed for award of M. Arch. Degree.
  4. Pre-requisite subjects are to be followed as given in Courses of Reading.
  5. Thesis for Master of Architecture will be on a topic related to any area of architecture, whereas Thesis for Master of Architecture in Conservation and Master of Architecture in Urban Design will be related to relevant areas of study. All Thesis proposals are required to be approved by the School Graduate Committee (SGC).
  6. Thesis is to be evaluated/ approved by External and Internal Examiner.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR M. ARCH DEGREE (with Specialization in Urban Design)

  • There will be two Semesters in an academic year of the university and every student will study at least nine subjects of three credit hours each and a Thesis on some aspect/topic related to the Heritage Conservation and of six credit hours OR Eleven Subjects of Three credit hours each. Out of nine subjects, four subjects with course Nos. AR-607, AR-608, AR-627 and AR-628 are compulsory. In case the Thesis is not opted, two more subjects related to the Urban Design as recommended by the Chairman of the Department are also required to be successfully completed.
  • A total of 33 credit hours are required to be successfully completed for award of M. Arch. Degree.
  • Thesis on Urban Design must be evaluated/ approved by External and Internal Examiner.

The Dean of the School is authorized to offer a subject/ subjects on the basis of available faculty and/or the number of students admitted.
