Curriculum and Courses of Readings List of Elective Courses Policy

The BS-CRP program at UMT is comparable to any international 4-year degree program and is compatible with the curriculum suggested by Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. Preparation of the curriculum, selection of the faculty, planning of the infrastructure facilities such as dedicated building, classrooms, labs and other resources are designed to fulfill the Pakistan Council of Architects and Town Planners (PCATP) and PEC requirements. The curriculum covers an intensive coverage of theoretical understanding of planning concepts and practical experience of planning projects. The broad areas of knowledge covered under this degree course includes; Mathematics, Engineering Sciences, Geography, Sociology, Statistics, Economics, Mapping, Community and Social Work, Management and Administrative Sciences, Applied Computer Sciences, Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS).

The City and Regional Planners are accepted in government as well as private sectors. The potential employers of BS-CRP graduates include Ministries of Housing, Environment and Urban Affairs, Planning and Development Research Institutes, Provincial Housing and Physical Planning Department, The Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency, Provincial Local Government and Rural Development Departments, Development Authorities, Improvement Trusts, and Tehsil Municipal Administrations etc.

 Program Objectives

The objective of this program is to prepare professionals in the city and regional planning with the objective to inculcate the following in the graduates.

  • Fundamental and advanced concepts of city and regional planning Systems with particular emphasis on the application of these concepts to further advance the state of technology and to meet the needs of the regional planning industry.
  • Effective leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to function in multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems
  • Understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Practice as good and responsible City planners
  • Affinity for lifelong learning and research skills

 Admission requirements for BS-CRP

All applications are evaluated on the basis of merit as determined by their previous academic record and performance in admission test. A general admission test is administered by university.

 Duration: 4 Years

 Entry Requirements:

  • 50% in Intermediate with Mathematics, A-Level with Mathematics or equivalent
  • 50% in Matric /O-Level

Selection for Admission: Qualification of UMT entry test

Department’s aptitude test Interview

Note: Candidates with Diploma of Associate Engineer (DAE) in the following disciplines instead of A-Level/FSc. can also apply
